Hemp Almond Banana Smoothie

I’m always starving after a long run or a mountain bike ride. I get in the house, usually tired, likely muddy, and head for the kitchen. This smoothie is one of my go-to recovery snacks – it’s made of whole foods and offers up protein, carbohydrates, minerals and vitamins. It’s tasty and easy to whirr up in a high-powered blender.

This also makes a great after-school snack. My almost 7 year old son is learning to like a variety of foods. In other words, he’s picky. Our food options are slowly improving, but it the meantime, he’s a growing active boy who needs calories, vitamins, minerals and protein. This smoothie fills him up until dinner time. You could always add some cocoa powder to further appeal to kids, although my son likes this one the way it is.

This makes about enough to serve two hungry kids or one adult who just burned a ton of calories and needs to replenish quickly!
